Free Hedgerow Survey Training Event, Saturday 19 May 2012, 10.00 am – 4.00 pm, Derrygonnelly Field Study Centre, Derrygonnelly.  With the assistance of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant, the HGW project aims to raise awareness of the value and importance of hedgerows for both people and wildlife.  To achieve this, a number of events and training sessions are being organised with a strong educational and practical element.  This event will introduce you to the many aspects of hedgerows, from their benefits, structure and diversity to the legislation that impacts upon them.  We will also be looking at how to best manage different types of hedgerows.  The training will include an outdoor afternoon session where you will have the opportunity to survey a hedgerow yourself.  A variety of appropriate handouts and leaflets will be available on the day.   To book a place or for further information please contact the Biodiversity Officer, Fermanagh District Council, Townhall on 028 66325050 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
